where,

UNDERSTANDING DOMAIN

Communication can be done with all the computers in the world if every computer in
Internet networks has a number, like a phone. These numbers should be unique,
and written in the format of four sets of numbers, example 202.123.41.52. The number is usually
known as an IP address. So, computers can communicate with each other
using the IP address.

Unfortunately, humans are not very good to remember many numbers of IP addresses. To facilitate the human, it is developing a domain name that represents the name of a computer on the Internet. Examples of domain names are:
1.      www.ipl.org - Internet Public Library on the Internet.
2.      www.plasa.com - Plasa Telkom.

We know some of the Top Level Domain (TLD), such as:
·        .com – for commercial organizations
·        .org – for non commercially organizations
·        .gov – for the United States governments
·        .edu – for university
·        .id – Indonesia
·        .sg – Singapore
·        .jp – Japan
·        .au – Australia
·        .co.id – for commercial organizations in Indonesia
·        .or.id – for non commercial organizations in Indonesia
·        .ac.id – for university in Indonesia
·        .sch.id – for school in Indonesia

There are two ways to connect Internet, they are:
1.       Individual connection or only one computer
·         Dial-up Modem
·         Hand phone with GPRS or 3G
·         WiFi Hotspot especially in laptop

2.       Office connection which consists of many computers at once
·         ADSL Modem (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, Internet connection with high speed)
·         Wireless internet
